The Great Gatsby Post 1

The Great Gatsby so far is about a man from Minnesota named Nick Carraway who came to new york to work on his novel. He also narrates the story. Really whats going on right now is that Nick is describing how its like in New York and how his neighbors are and everything. One of his neighbors he talks about is who he has heard a lot about is Gatsby who he briefly mentions and he says "Gatsby represents everything he scorns but that exempts him from his usual judgements". He also states that Gatsby's personality was nothing short of "gorgeous". You can also get a nice connection early on in the book with nick on how he describes himself. Saying stuff like "I learned from my father to reserve judgment about other people, because if I hold them up to my own moral standards, I will misunderstand them".

I like how Scott Fitzgerald the author tells the story of Nick. He is a real relatable character. I have had moments in my life where I did judge people on first impressions and that is just not the right thing to do because when you do that you can miss out on real good friends or nice people because you don't talk to them because maybe how they are dressed or how they talk. That is what Nick is basically referring to when he said that. So everybody isn't like you so don't judge people. So I liked how Fitzgerald just made Nick so true like
