Grapes Of Wrath 9

For this posting, I read chapters 27 and 28. In these chapters, the Joads decide to leave the government camp because they are running out of money and they can't afford to stay there. They decide to go pick cotton to make more money. Tom witnesses a strike. In the group is of people Casy is in there. While they are talking, a man strikes Casy in the head with a pick axe and kills him. Tom steals the axe, and kills that guy. The Joads leave.

Wow that is some crazy action that just happened. That just came out of no where and surprised the heck out of me. I said I wanted action and action I got. Killing was very unexpected for me to happened in this book. I expected people to die but not like this. Well that was a great reading section and now I got to finish up the book.

Grapes of Wrath 8

For this posting, I read chapters 25 and 26. In these chapters when get ready for the dance that night the committee members posted 25 men to watch out in case someone wants to start a fight. Some other migrants came in and caused trouble. The cops arrived and tell the watchmen to open the gates because they hear a riot.

Now we see some action and what I love is action. I don't think there is really a riot that is going to happend, but that would be a crazy action part of the story. I think that the cops are probally just trying to mess with the people, I dont really think they hear riot just messing with the people. You never know though so we will see.

Grapes Of Wrath 7

For this posting I read chapters 21-24. In these chapters the Joad family gets to the government camp. They are very happy to find out it has running water. Some of the people like Pa have a hard time finding work.

Now the story finally gets back to good happy parts instead of everyone dying. I say this because the Joad family finally found a nice place to live in an survive. I just hope that the book will continue to be at least somewhat happy. I say somewhat happy because its not completely there because I mean some people don't even have jobs yet. So we will see.

Grapes Of Wrath 6

For this posting I read chapters 17-20. In these chapters the Joads stop in the desert. N When the Joads finally get across the desert, Ma tells them that grandma died. Casy takes the blame for knocking out a police officer and is arrested.

This Chapter was at first a boring one but I can't exactly say that because a death does occur and it is Grandma. This book is getting really sappy. There has just been a lot of deaths lately in the book that at this point it is just getting real sad and sappy. I really wish the book would pick up and be more exciting because right now its making me kind of down.

Grapes Of Wrath 5

For this blog posting, I read chapters 14-16. In these chapters, John Steinbeck says that migrants drive along route 66 to get to California. Along the way, they stop in towns and are constantly told to go back because the California border patrol will just turn them back anyway. The Joads family's dog died. Grandpa is becoming sick, he is having a stroke. He ended up suffocating and dying.

I thought this was a very sad part of the book because both the dog and the grandpa died. The deaths were so sudden and just so unexpected that it made me change emotions dramatically while reading the book. I was happy they were going to California then all these deaths happen.

Grapes of Wrath 4

For posting number 4, I read chapters 11 and 13. Tom's mom is worried about moving to California. Tom does not want to move there because he feels like there are very bad conditions of living there. Pa is worried because Tom may not be able to go to California due to the parole rules. Grandpa didn't really want to leave, so they gave him sleeping pills and just threw him in the car.

This part in the book was kind of a weird part to me. Just because they explain just the whole California part for a long time and I feel like they keep dragging it on where they could be instead talk about something else that is probably way more important. That's just me.

Grapes Of Wrath 3

For the third posting, I read chapters 7-10. In these chapters, we learn that Uncle John didn't take his wife to the hospital when she had a stomachache, and she later died from a burst appendix. Then he did everything he could to make up for it. Tom meets his parents and they are surprised and happy to see him.

These chapters started of with a good happy reaction then the happiness just goes away. Sadness comes because Uncle John's wife died. Then you have to look at what the tenants have to struggle with in their daily life, and that's really sad.
