There is love in the air. Nick is coming attracted to Jordan. Even though he knows that Jordan is a dishonest and sort of selfish person he still is attracted to her. Later on though Nick goes to lunch with his new pal Jay Gatsby. As they drive to the city for lunch Gatsby starts to talk about his past. To me it seems like he is just bragging about his past. He tells Nick how he is the son of wealthy deceased parents from the Midwest. He then starts to talk about his accomplishments he claims to have been educated at Oxford, to have collected jewels in the capitals of Europe, to have hunted big game, and to have been awarded medals in World War I by multiple European countries. I can't believe all of this and it seems like Nick does not either. So Gatsby pulls out a a medal from Montenegro and a picture of himself playing cricket at Oxford.
Okay so right now I'm sort of losing the respect I had gained for Gatsby by being like a cool laid back guy. I say this because by the part I read it just seems like he is bragging about how rich he is or look at how great he is and right now I'm really not liking that because, I thought he was a cool laid back guy not the one who would brag. So I didn't like that choice by Fitzgerald of making Gatsby brag about his self but I mean the truth had to be reveled about Gatsby past and that's what he did so I'm not so mad at that decision by Fitzgerald. Although I still am a little skeptical about that Gatsby past.

The Great Gatsby Post 7
I can't believe it the guy who said he recognises Nick is none other than Jay Gatsby. How ironic that sit at the table with Gatsby. Anyways Gatsby and Nick realizes that they served in the same division during the war. Gatsby talks and it seems like the more and more he talks the more and more Nick is just fascinated by him. Later on in the party as it is just about to end a butler comes over to Jordan and tells her that Gatsby would like to speak to her. Jordan finally comes out the room and says that Gatsby just told her something "extraordinary." Then Nick just leaves the party saying goodbye to Gatsby who just got a phone call from Philadelphia.
Okay so wow Nick finally meets Gatsby and it turns out that they sort off all ready know each other. I love Fitzgerald portrays Gatsby as a character he shows Gatsby at the party not drinking just sort of keeping to his self analyzing everyone else at the party. I love how he gives Gatsby that sort of mysterious laid back kind of character role but he also seems like a really cool person. I also though really want to know in detail what Gatsby and Jordan talked about that was so "extraordinary." I would really love to figure that out. Other than that though that was a great reading section and I hope it gets even better from here.

The Great Gatsby Post 6
Nick finally runs into somebody at the party so now Nick does not seem so alone and weirded out at the party. He runs into Jordan Baker one of his friends. So as the party goes along Gatsby still is no where to be found so Jordan and Nick who really want to meet Gatsby set out to look for him. So it's getting late and it seems if though they will never find Gatsby so it seems like they just give up and go watch the entertainment. So Nick and Jordan sit with a young man at one of the tables. It gets kind of weird because the guy says he recognises Nick.
So I think its strange that Nick has still not met Gatsby yet maybe Fitzgerald is just holding out for something big that's why they still haven't met. I'm really interested in finding out who this guy is that says he recognises who Nick is. Its strange because Nick just moved to New York and now he just found someone who recognises him. I wonder who this could be. Well guess I will just have to find out.

The Great Gatsby Post 5
So as I'm reading Nick is at the party and he feels very uncomfortable. He feels this way because there are tons of strangers there and as he is waling around all the people are talking about are rumours about Gatsby. It seems like nobody really knows the truth about this guy which is kind of weird to me. Nick is hearing rumours that Gatsby killed someone before and he was a German spy before its just very strange.
I think it is weird how Fitzgerald is explaining Gatsby. I also think that is a very cool way to do it though also. Right now since Nick knows nothing about Gatsby except he throws great parties he has to listen to the rumours to get a feel of Gatsby and the reader also has to get a feel of Gatsby just off of rumours. So its sort of like should I believe this and judge Gatsby or should I just wait to meet him and decide for myself. I think that is a very cool but very strange way to portray Gatsby. I like that idea a lot though so good job Fitzgerald.
